Our beautiful homes would not be complete without the help from our entire team. We each bring a unique combination of talent and experience, and our diverse backgrounds in construction, economics and finance enable us to offer complementary insights and skills. The main thing is, we like each other, and we share the same beliefs.

Among them: professionalism, curiosity, passion for solving problems in three dimensions, and a genuinely collaborative approach to working with clients, architects, designers, and subcontractors.

  • Steve Kearns

    FOUNDER

    Steve founded KMV Builders in 1980, after a seven-year stint as an investment advisor in a startup with his economics professor at UC Irvine. He is the backbone of SV Custom Builders, overseeing all aspects of the company and maintaining SVCB’s longstanding integrity. Steve loves that he gets to create beautiful buildings while living in such a beautiful place.

  • Victor Vandenberg

    PRINCIPAL/SUPERINTENDENT

    Victor grew up in southern California, graduating from Long Beach State, before starting as a journeyman carpenter with Steve. It didn’t take long for his talents to be recognized, and he quickly moved into the superintendent role. With enthusiasm and attention to detail, Victor has mastered the ins and outs of the construction business and become a vital principal of SV Custom Builders.

  • Robin Story

    PRINCIPAL/PROJECT MANAGER

    Robin, a Hailey native, graduated magna cum laude in Economics from the University of Washington. After traveling and spending a few years skiing in Lake Tahoe, she decided to return to her roots in Idaho. She is involved in every project, every step of the way. Whether it’s budget estimates, value engineering, in-depth schedules, material orders, or subcontractor coordination, Robin is driving projects behind the scenes and offering critical support to the onsite superintendents. She is our Senior Project Manager and a principal in our firm.
